Amadeus Learning Centre 2014

A simple start.

In September 2014, Amadeus entrusted us with the creation of a website for the Learning Centre, its training centre.
At first, this website was just a fairly simple showcase of around twenty pages offering information for people wishing to take part in one of the travel giant's training courses. Its only advanced functionality is the presence of a form enabling visitors to request a hotel and/or car reservation depending on the centre in which they are taking their course.

Amadeus Learning Centre - The first evolutions

The first evolutions.

In October of the same year, an update was quickly requested with the creation of a news module to inform visitors about new developments in the training centres. Over time, the website continued to evolve with new modules enabling Amadeus to dynamically manage all the hotels near the centres and display them on a dedicated page. They also complement the booking form, making it easier for visitors to choose a hotel.

During the second half of 2015, we had regular discussions with the team in charge of training content to determine the best way to integrate the training sheets on the website. This was a subject we were very familiar with, as Ideogram Design was in charge of publishing printable and digital training catalogues for Amadeus. Initially, the solution was simply to create a page whose design allowed links to be integrated into the PDF catalogues that Ideogram Design published.

A change of strategy.

We quickly came up with solutions to make the catalogue more flexible and dynamic. Our CMS is perfectly suited to this, so we developed a customised solution for managing and displaying training courses that is fully integrated into the website. Site administrators have access to a tool that enables them to manage a database of training courses, as well as the associated metadata. The creation and editing of training courses goes through a complex workflow, specifically created, which corresponds to the way in which the Amadeus team in charge of training courses operates.

Publishers have an adapted tool for proposing new training courses or new versions of training courses, without having to know everything about how the administration tool works. During the various validation stages, new information is added by all the validators. Based on metadata, authorised administrators can propose pre-filtered catalogues. The tool offers a high degree of flexibility, making it easy to create catalogues tailored to very specific needs or customers. When visitors browse a catalogue, they can view the training courses. They can also filter and search for courses according to their criteria.

One of the key features is the option for visitors to download the course description in PDF format. If they wish, the site also offers them the opportunity to retrieve the full catalogue, again in PDF format. More subtly, users can also retrieve the catalogue filtered according to their selection. The PDFs are generated directly, and despite the large number of pages in the most comprehensive catalogues, the response time of the tool is very short (less than one second to propose the download).

Amadeus Learning Center 2016

An evolution in the graphic identity.

During 2016, the Amadeus Brand Corporate team unveiled a new graphic charter. This was an opportunity for the site to undergo a visual refresh in line with the new visual identity rules.

After producing a few mock-ups, which were approved by Amadeus, we created a new theme that we integrated into the CMS. On the day the update was due to be published, all we had to do was switch from the old theme to the new one.

Optimum operation over time.

Between 2017 and 2023, as the site reached maturity, there were no major changes. We did, however, follow up on various requests for minor changes. These changes enabled the administrators to continue working with this tool, which they now know very well, while keeping up with changes in training management. During this period, the website's availability rate was 100%, an imperative for a company with a worldwide reputation.

Amadeus Branding
Amadeus Learning Centre 2024

A complete update to celebrate the website's 10th anniversary.

In 2024, the Amadeus Brand Corporate team announced a complete overhaul of their graphic identity. A new graphic charter was proposed. Coincidentally, this coincided with the 10th anniversary of the website. Once again, we were asked to update the website according to the new graphic identity rules, but also to modernise the whole, by proposing a new way of navigating, a new presentation for the pages, as well as new capacities for the training catalogues.

In this case, a complete overhaul of the site is out of the question, as we are obliged to retain all the data relating to the training courses in the website databases. While respecting the constraint of maintaining the structure of the existing website, we were able to propose to Amadeus a redesign of the Learning Centre that fully met the graphic and technical expectations. The visual identity was completely revamped, incorporating the brand's new graphic charter and adapting to current web trends.

We started from blank mock-ups and redesigned the entire site, from the front page to the PDF exports of fact sheets and catalogues, not forgetting the editing tools. Today, the Learning Centre seems to be back on track for a few more years, and we're still ready to go live.
